To the Immaculate Heart of the Queen of Peace
"Do You Really Love Me?"
I love you as you love me;
I want to love you with all my strength to be.
I love you!
I want to love you with all my heart;
I want to love you so much we will never part.
I love you with all my soul and mind;
I want to love you with all the hope,
faith, and joy I can find.
I love you!
I want to love you beyond the most
I want to love you with the greatest
symphony of music that can be heard.
I love you!
I love you more than all the angels;
I want to love you more than anything created;
I want to love you as far as the heavens can see;
and I want you to know that it comes all from me!
Some of the most beautiful, inspiring, and spiritually enriching, prayers in the Catholic Church are those invoked in devotions to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
The two hearts of Jesus and Mary are united through Divine grace. They beat in perfect harmony to plant the love and joy of the Lord in the hearts of all those who ask for their graces and consecrate themselves to them.
At Medjugorje, Our Lady often speaks of the great love and graces that can be obtained by having devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and her Immaculate Heart. The "peace" of Medjugorje flows from the Immaculate Heart of Mary as a special gift from God.
In 1917, at Fatima, Our Lady told the visionary, Lucia dos Santos, "My Immaculate Heart will ever be your refuge and the way that will lead you to God." Lucia has spread devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary throughout the world.
Just as at Fatima, Our Lady has once again, at Medjugorje, opened her heart to all who listen to her messages. She has revived the "Prayer of the Heart", a traditional and contemplative type of prayer in Church. Mary offers refuge to all who seek her love. Medjugorje pilgrims are called to spread devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Christ has given Medjugorje to His mother and will reward a hundredfold every act of honor given to Mary, The Queen of Peace.
Pilgrims usually begin their pilgrimage in Medjugorje by visiting St. James Church, Apparition Hill (Prodbrdo), the Mountain of the Cross (Mt. Krizevac), and the visionaries.
Then, after spending some time reflecting and meditating in prayer, pilgrims are prepared to journey to Tihaljina, about half an hour away, to visit Fr. Jozo at the Immaculate Conception Church.
A magnificent crucifix stands behind the altar of the Immaculate Conception Church. On the right of the altar is a statue of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. On the left of the altar is a statue of Mary as our Lady of Grace that has become world famous. This statue of Mary was made in Italy and was brought to Tihaljina at great expense to the parishioners. The Church parishioners have come to regard this statue as the Immaculate Conception, the namesake of their church.
Fr. Jozo was the pastor of St. James Church when the apparitions first began. Fr. Jozo came to believe in the apparitions and was imprisoned for refusing to suppress the young visionaries. He preaches a rich spiritual insight into the meaning of Medjugorje morning, noon, and night.
Fr. Jozo distributes portraits of the statue of Mary as a reminder of the spirituality of Medjugorje. In 1988, there were no photographs of the statue with English printed prayers available at Tihaljina. It was suggested that one should be produced so that it could be available to all English-speaking pilgrims who come to Tihaljina.
A fund was established to finance the publication of such a picture. During the next two years, several attempts we remade at photographing the statue to obtain a suitable picture. However, none were successful: either the picture contrast was not acceptable, or the camera malfunctioned, or the angle of the portrait wasn't correct. What seemed at the outset to be an easy task turned into a frustrating and laborious project, plagued with all sorts of difficulties.
In February 1990, during a retreat at the Immaculate Conception Church in Tihaljina, over 100 photographs were taken by a member of Send Your Spirit. But only one photograph of the face came out so beautiful and life-like that it captures the heart of everyone who sees it. Some claim that when they pray before this particular portrait, the expression on the face of Our Lady often appears to change.

Also during the retrat, the Prayer of Consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary was received in a prophetic message. It became obvious that both of these God-given gifts, the prayer and the portrait of the statue, were inseparable and belonged together. As a result, the Send Your Spirit Portrait of Mary was produced with the Prayer of Consecration given at the retreat printed on the back.
Some people in Medjugorje suggested that the picture be distributed, not only at the Immaculate Conception Church at Tihaljina, but also to people in Medjugorje and to people all over the world.
When asked about this portrait and its Prayer of Consecration, the Medjugorje visionary Jelena (an inner locutionist who also receives prophetic messages) said, "This is a perfect picture to spread the message of Medjugorje and devotion to the Immaculate Conception around the world. It is the work of God!"
This portrait of Mary is used by many Marian apostolates to encourage devotion to Our Lady and dedication to her Immaculate Heart.
You can help spread the message of Our Lady by distributing the portrait, by bringing pictures to Medjugorje for distribution, or by having them sent there in your name.
"Remember, without your help, Our Lady can do nothing!" - Fr. Jozo
